Born in Glades General Hospital in1952, Patricia Luma has lived in Belle Glade, Florida, her entire life. She started farming at an early age, cutting celery and packed corn. As a migrant farmworker, Ms. Luma went up to Delaware and Maryland to farm cucumbers and potatoes. She would come back to Belle Glade in the off-season to cut leaves. Ms. Luma is active in her community through volunteering to mentor and encourage children.
